brassware, other sheet metalwork in GKN Group until the 1980s (Four marks plus
Neptune).

The
‘Neptune’ and JSS marks were apparently used concurrently
on similar items. Probably the ‘Neptune’ mark was used when retailers needed to
avoid price comparisons with others.
The
‘Patent’ hidden in the pattern refers to the patterning process for this tray
which was probably engraved and silver plated when first sold.
