‘Neptune’ and JSS marks were apparently used concurrentlyconcurrently
on similar items. Probably the ‘Neptune’ mark was used when retailers needed to
avoid price comparisons with others. |

‘Patent’ hidden in the pattern refers to the patterning process for this tray
which was probably silver plated when first sold.
